Florida governor Ron DeSantis finally spoke up about the possible indictment Donald Trump might face in the following days.
Talking to the media, DeSantis said, “I have no interest in getting involved in some manufactured circus by some Soros-DA.” DeSantis was most likely referring to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
He added, “He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base. I’ve got real issues I got to deal with here in the state of Florida.”
DeSantis made the media laugh
DeSantis said he does not know much, but “I do know this: the Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor,”
Yet, Ron DeSantis, who was ruthlessly attacked by Trump in the past weeks, continued:
“I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a p..n star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair, I just, I can’t speak to that.”
People laughed at this dig, though DeSantis said the prosecutor is “an example of pursuing a political agenda.”
Since Trump issued a statement that he will be charged on Tuesday, many wanted to hear from DeSantis.
Trump’s many attacks on Florida’s governor
Only days prior, in Iowa, the former president was asked if he regrets endorsing DeSantis in 2018: “Yeah, maybe, this guy was dead. He was dead as a doornail. … I might say that.”
Trump called him names, stating, “Remember this: If it weren’t for me, Ron DeSanctimonious would right now be working probably at a law firm, or maybe a Pizza Hut, I don’t know.”
Donald Jr. is not happy with DeSantis
Despite dealing with a hurricane, the Florida governor was called out by the far-right political activist Jack Posobiec.
He told The New York Times, “For DeSantis to make that post yesterday, talking about the Hurricane Ian response and nothing from the personal account whatsoever about the arrest – it was a message that was received.”
Donald Trump Jr. did not like DeSantis’ statement, as he tweeted, “So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a “manufactured circus” & isn’t a “real issue.”
Trump’s oldest son added, “Pure weakness. Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors. 100% Controlled Opposition.”
DeSantis is such a fraud!! Takes a swipe at @realDonaldTrump over a BS rumor instead of sticking up for him as he’s being politically persecuted. https://t.co/7VietrE4K6

DeSantis is in a tricky position
Ron DeSantis is not an official presidential candidate for 2024, but according to polls, when it comes to GOP, there are only two names: him and Trump.
With Republican voters, silence is not a good sign, as we saw in the past few days.
DeSantis, a former military prosecutor, knew he had to give some statement to the media, but he also previously wrote that the “duty of the prosecutor is to follow the law.”
His balanced statement did not sit well with some of the Republicans. For others, it was a good political move.
The last-minute witness
In the meantime, the Manhattan DA has a most likely final witness today. Robert Costello is a witness on Trump’s behalf investigating the $130,000 hush payment allegedly made to Stormy Daniels from Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Costello will likely try to discredit Micheal Cohen. That could mean the DA will need more than 24 hours to charge Trump.
What do you think about the Florida governor’s statement? Good enough for the future candidate for POTUS?
