Before announcing his presidential bid, the GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy reportedly had his Wikipedia page edited to fit his narrative better.
A more “flattering” page
The @depthsofwiki account shared on X, “Vivek Ramaswamy, the guy in the Republican debates rn, paid someone from Upwork to make his Wikipedia more flattering. In the middle of scrubbing Ramaswamy’s article, the paid editor randomly added a hyphen in Cyndi Lauper’s article, lol.”
A user named Jhofferman made the changes
User Jhofferman allegedly made edits to Ramaswamy’s Wikipedia page earlier this year. They later said changes were “at the request of the client,” adding they were “hired and began the revision before he (Ramaswamy) declared his candidacy,” Mediaite reported.
Adjusting the history
The Wikipedia article history shows that the editor erased material that included Ramaswamy’s 2011 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. The presidential hopeful criticized Soros, writing on Instagram, “Money more than talks in the Biden White House: George Soros’ son has visited more than 14 times.

Ramaswamy continued, “Cronyism leads to corruption. Republicans should be the party that wants to keep mega-money out of politics. But career GOP politicians dependent on their sugar daddies can’t say it.” But attacking Soros is common for many Republicans, and there is also Ramaswamy’s connection to Tucker Carlson.
The announcement
Ramaswamy announced his presidential candidacy on Tucker Carlson’s show. Carlson’s anti-Soros rants are well documented, with the fired Fox host saying that Soros, a liberal billionaire whose Open Society Foundations aims to improve democracies and make governments accountable, “is waging a kind of war — political, social and demographic war — on the West.”

The presidential hopeful wrote on X, “We’re surging. The knives are out. “WEF.” “Soros.” “Masks.” Here’s the TRUTH. Stay skeptical. Keep the questions coming & I’ll keep answering.”

Ramaswamy’s page was also apparently edited to remove his role on the state of Ohio’s COVID-19 Response Team. The reasons behind it remain unknown.
Blaming DeSantis
Senior adviser Tricia McLaughlin told HuffPost, “It’s telling that the DeSantis Super PAC promptly distributed this misleading story ― says a lot about where this non-story came from.”
Not a scrub, claims Ramaswamy’s campaign
McLaughlin added that Ramaswamy was not trying to hide his past, adding, “It makes sense to clear up lies and deception planted by the very folks who appear to have planted this story.”

One Reddit poster said, “Yeah, I don’t trust this guy, says ‘all the right things,’ anyone that does that, nope. Great public speaker, though. No pause words or ‘uh’ or ‘um.’ I’ll give him that.”

Another wondered, “Why would a guy born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to two Indian immigrants base his company headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, a mere 147 miles away from Davos, Switzerland?” One just stated, “He’s a Globalist puppet.”
Some were kind of offensive
One said, “Vivek is the Deep State’s candidate to try and hijack MAGA. He runs blatant Trump slogan theft like ‘truth’ and ‘America First 2.0.’ His entire history is pharma hustling and big finance splashed with Soros sponsorship. He’s an Indian Obama who knows what MAGA wants to hear. He won’t go the distance in 2024 – but Trump will!”
