Senator Cruz is having a tough time raising money, according to a newly released Federal Election Commission report, and it appears that “Texans’ enthusiasm to retire Ted Cruz” is stronger than ever.
Colin Allred has a chance to beat Cruz
Democrat Colin Allred raised $4.7 million in the third quarter. Cruz’s campaign told Fox News on Monday that he raised $5.4 million in the third quarter, but it was spread across three accounts, but there is another reason for Cruz to be worried.
Allred has the support of the people
Around 95 percent of donations for Allred’s campaign were under 100 dollars. Allred raised $6.2 million in the second quarter and outraised Cruz, who gathered $3.4 million in those three months.
Cash on hand
According to the Daily Beast, “Allred, a third-term House member, reported a cash-in-hand total of $7.9 million, having raised a total of $10.9 million since announcing his bid for Cruz’s seat in early May.” The outlet noted how Cruz “had $5.4 million in the bank at the third quarter’s close.”
Allred’s campaign manager is pleased
Allred’s campaign manager, Paige Hutchinson, issued a statement saying, “Texans’ enthusiasm to retire Ted Cruz – and to elect Colin Allred to the Senate – is reflected in this quarter’s amazing outpouring of grassroots support.”
Cruz is still more recognizable
The conservative Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation showed that “49% of registered voters do not know enough about Allred to have either a favorable or unfavorable opinion about him, while only 6% do not know enough about Cruz to have an opinion about the Senator.”
Yet, the polls show the Democrat has a fair chance
Cruz was just 7 points up from Allred following the Congressman’s announcement in May. Considering that Cruz is one of the most recognizable faces in politics, he should have had much more extensive support.
Allred is one of the two most significant threats to Cruz
San Antonio State Senator Roland Gutierrez is another possibility, though there are still more Democrats in the game. Fox 4 News asked Cruz whether he is scared more of Dallas Congressman Colin Allred or San Antonio State Senator Roland Gutierrez.
Cruz shared his thoughts on his opponents
While talking to the network, Cruz stated, “There are a bunch of Democrats running; I guess I should take that as a compliment. I don’t care who wins.” He added that “the Democrats have targeted Texas.”
Cruz on Allred
Cruz then mentioned Allred, “I don’t think they are going to succeed because what we are doing in Texas is working…Colin Allred, you mentioned him, his first four years, he voted with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time.”
Democrats obey
Cruz explained how “any of the Democrats, they all follow orders, they just obey.” Still, he criticized House Republicans in the same interview, “I don’t like seeing chaos in the Republican House. I think they are doing a lot of good, but that’s a mess.”
A spokesman for the Cruz campaign believes in the Senator’s third term
“The momentum and excitement to re-elect Senator Ted Cruz could not be more tangible,” Nick Maddux, spokesman for the Cruz campaign, told The Texan. Maddux added, “Democrats better gear up because Senator Cruz is ready for a hell of a fight to keep Texas, Texas.”
NRSC spokesperson is behind Cruz
Politico reported that The National Republican Senatorial Committee’s spokesperson, Philip Letsou, said that “Hawley, Cruz, and Scott are taking their races seriously and have built extremely strong campaign operations to beat back the millions in attacks they will face from left-wing donors in New York and California.”
Cruz called Trump’s two impeachments “bogus”
The Senator called out President Biden over alleged support for Iran, which is nothing but a serious allegation, and called on X for people to listen to his podcast. He also went after Biden recently, claiming he should be in jail while calling Trump’s impeachments “bogus.”
Joe Biden should be impeached
Senator Cruz expressed, “Joe Biden should be impeached.” He continued, “He should be removed from office.”
Biden for prison?
Cruz then went onto a rampage, “He should be prosecuted, and he should go to prison, and he should share a cell with Hunter for corrupting the government of the United States.”
Cruz repeated the claims on X
After giving his input into impeachment on Fox News, the Texas senator shared his interview on X and added, “Hunter Biden has no marketable skills. His business was selling access to Joe Biden.”
More allegations
He further alleged, “These were Joe Biden’s business dealings—shaking down corrupt oligarchs for millions of dollars for political favors.”
Republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky advised differently
The Senate Minority Leader faced backlash following his statements that he is against the impeachment at this point. Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, wondered, “Does [Mitch] McConnell not understand the bribery charges? Does he not see these bank records that we have right here?”
The host went deeper into serious allegations
Bartiromo added, “Let’s put those bank records up on screen because we have the bank records that House Oversight Committee lawmakers have released indicating $5 million to Hunter, the $5 million to Joe, all of these 20 shell companies where foreigners were sending millions, and then eventually the money made its way into Biden family bank accounts. Have you spoken to your colleague Mitch McConnell?”
Cruz has no idea
The Senator replied, “Look, I have no idea what Mitch knows or doesn’t know.” He continued, “I will tell you, very few people in the Senate are following closely the details of what’s happening here. Part of the reason is Senate Democrats want to have nothing to do with it.”
Democrats do not care
Cruz further alleged, “We won’t have a single hearing for the next two years in the Senate Judiciary Committee on any of this because the Democrats do not care. Not a single Democrat cares whether the president of the United States has received millions of dollars in bribes from foreign nationals. It doesn’t matter because they put partisan politics above the rule of law.”
Trump’s impeachments were “bogus”
The Texas Republican further commented on Trump’s impeachments, “When the Democrats abused the impeachment power by impeaching Trump twice because they hated him, the impeachments were bogus.” Cruz further shared, “They were not well grounded factually or legally. I said at the time, they were setting in motion a process where impeachment becomes a weapon each side uses against the other. And I think that’s a bad dynamic.”
Cruz confessed these are still allegations
The GOP senator said, “This is qualitatively different because the allegations here are of bribery.”
Cruz went on
He then explained why this matters, “Bribery is specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States, and the scope of it, $20 million while he was vice president, by the way, another $8 million just a few months after he finished being vice president from communist China.”
The Senator’s conclusion
Cruz concluded, “If Joe was next to him, that shows that Joe is part of the threat trying to extort cash from the Chinese. And, according to the IRS whistleblowers, DOJ said, no, you cannot determine whether Joe was actually sitting next to Hunter Biden when Hunter said, my dad’s next to me. And we know the threat worked because, within weeks, over $8 million was transferred from the Chinese communists to the Biden family.”
