The Georgia lawmaker made her anti-climate change argument by asking, “How much taxes did people pay” during the Ice Age, and it is as baffling as it seems.
Greene’s bizarre statement
The Georgia Republican first asked, “People are not affecting climate change. You’re going to tell me that back in the Ice Age, how much taxes did people pay, and how many changes did governments make to melt the ice?”
Then things got worse
Greene stated, “The climate is going to continue to change. And there is no reason to just open up our borders and allow everyone in and continue to funnel over $50 billion or however many billions of dollars or trillions of dollars to foreign countries all over the world simply because they don’t like the climate change.”
Not Greene’s first climate change rodeo
In March 2021, Greene wondered, “How much taxes and how much money did the people back in the ice age spend to warm up the Earth?”
Global warming is good
In June 2023, Greene proclaimed global warming is “actually healthy for us.” She elaborated on how it keeps people warm and they can grow food.
People were amused
Author Stephen King stated, “This woman is the very definition of a goofball.” Obviously, Greene did not bother mentioning the fossil fuel industry, which was not something Ice Age creatures had to endure.
A not-so-gentle reminder
Jesse Ferguson wrote, “REMINDER: She is in control of the GOP Congress.” Journalist Laura Basset wrote, “Should we institute a minimum IQ situation for holding public office?”
A professor mocked her
“During the Ice Age everyone’s assets were frozen,” wrote on X Dr. Sarah Parcak, professor, Egyptologist, and award-winning author. An account named Colorfullstory added, “The level of stupid sitting in the law-making body is astronomical.” Richard Williamson wondered, “Just to clarify, is she advocating for a return to the stone or ice age? True; no taxes ….Is this the Moron Age now?”
$50 billion question
TNR reminded, “America’s formal financial commitment for climate aid is now back to $1 billion after the Trump administration zeroed it all out.” So, it remains unclear where Greene found $50 billion.
With Alex Jones
While on Alex Jones’s Infowars, the Georgia Republican said, “God has a way of making sure everyone knows who God is.” She continued, “There’s 75,000 people in the Nevada desert now at this Burning Man. They’re locked in. They’re not allowed to leave.” Greene continued, “And they’re basically, probably, being brainwashed that climate change is the cause of all of it, it’s the root of all evil, and it’s going to destroy the earth, and they’re feeling the panic.”
Not the only lawmaker with this attitude
Ron Johnson, a Republican Senator from Wisconsin, stated, “You’re concerned if you’re in the really hot region of Africa, but in terms of the United States and most of Europe, we’re in pretty good shape.”
Greene’s big announcement
“I’m not a member of the burn-it-all-down caucus anymore,” Greene told reporters. “I’m a greatly, very happily free agent, and I want to do my job here.” Greene was voted out after an alleged fight with Lauren Boebert, though it remains unclear what else, if anything, happened behind closed doors. Greene also called the caucus a “drama club.”
Greene was for a government shutdown unless all the requests are met
Marjorie Taylor Greene announced a list of demands Congress must meet, and it included impeachment inquiry on President Joe Biden, defunding Biden’s “weaponization of government,” eliminating all COVID-19 mandates and ceasing aid to Ukraine.
