Trump’s Truth Social meltdown: “Reports are the Marxist Special Prosecutor, DOJ, and FBI, want to Indict me”

Special counsel Jack Smith might charge the former president, at least according to one of his latest meltdowns on Truth Social.

The case is nearing the end

NBC News reported that the federal grand jury will resume the hearing after a break, adding the panel may soon vote on an indictment. The Mar-a-Lago investigation into classified documents hit a new wall for Trump’s defense after Smith obtained audio of Trump allegedly admitting he had a classified document about Iran.

Trump wrote, “Reports are the Marxist Special Prosecutor, DOJ, & FBI, want to Indict me on the BOXES HOAX, despite all of the wrongdoing that they have done for SEVEN YEARS, including SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN.” Trump referred to the debunked theory that the FBI was spying on his campaign.

Then he went after Biden

Trump added, “Biden Crimes go unpunished, including that he had Boxes in Chinatown, in his garage by the ‘Corvette,’ & 1,850 Boxes in Delaware that he won’t allow anyone to see. That is real OBSTRUCTION!” Biden is also under investigation, though the cases are vastly different since Biden handed over the documents just like former VP Mike Pence.

Trump repeated he was innocent

The former president continued, “They seek retribution for Republicans looking into Biden’s CRIMES! I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” MSNBC legal analyst Katie Phang tweeted that it is likely that someone from Trump’s legal team received bad news.

Trump’s words could be pure speculation

However, CNN legal analyst Norm Eisen claimed, “Just be careful, remember his head fake on the timing of the Bragg charges.” Eisen added, “Trump fooled everyone by setting up a false deadline & then creating a fuss when it was not met. Yes, I think Smith will charge & soon — on his schedule, not Trump’s.”

Pence will not be charged

The Justice Department wrote to Pence’s lawyer that it and the FBI had investigated the potential misuse of the documents, one of the sources told The New York Times. They read the letter from the DOJ, adding that the department said “no criminal charges will be sought” based on its findings.

How it ties to Trump’s case

Former federal prosecutor Noah Bookbinder tweeted, “It is appropriate that the Justice Department will not charge Mike Pence given that it was only a few documents, he apparently didn’t know about them, and he has fully cooperated with the investigation—all of which is in marked contrast with Donald Trump.”

Trump disagreed

The 45th president wrote on Truth Social at the time, “Just announced that they are not going to bring charges against Mike Pence on the document hoax.”He continued, “That’s great, but when am I going to be fully exonerated, I’m at least as innocent as he is. And what about Joe Biden, who is hiding at least 1850 boxes, and some located in Chinatown, DC? When will the witch hunt against ‘TRUMP’ stop?”

The audio that might have sealed Trump’s fate

The audio, in which former President Donald Trump admits retaining a classified Pentagon document about a potential attack on Iran, raised the threat of indictment in the Mar-a-Lago investigation, CNN believes.

Legal scholars agreed

This was backed by legal scholars, who wrote, “There is sufficient evidence to obtain and sustain a conviction here if the information gleaned from government filings and statements and voluminous public reporting is accurate. Indeed, the DOJ is likely now, or shortly will be, internally circulating a pros memo of its own saying so.”
