Living with others implies inviting someone into your space, which is easier said than done. As much as you love your children, once they are over 18, they are more like sloppy roommates than those adorable little ones you used to run around with at home.

The costly shampoo

Separating items is a task that demands respect from everyone involved. The original Reddit poster shared that they had to use a pricey “medicated shampoo because of a scalp condition.”

This expensive shampoo “comes in packaging meant to be stored upright.” But do you think adult children respect that?

They all share a bathroom and keep their stuff there. The Reddit poster explained, “I keep my shampoo in there as well since it is my house, and I can keep my stuff wherever I want.” The OP (original poster) shared that “one graduated from college, and the other is a junior.”

The OP respects boundaries

The parent shared how the daughter “has her hair products in the shower, and I do not touch them. The son has Axe or “woman repellent,” and “I have zero desire to smell like a high school locker room.”

The children do not care about storing the fancy shampoo

The Reddit user complained, “They have already wasted an entire bottle of my shampoo by storing it upside down after they touched it for some reason.”

The kids are not listening

After trying to sort things out by repeating that this shampoo was “meant to be stored with the lid at the top,” the Reddit user has had it.

Buying labels

Here is where things got amusing. The poster shared, “I ordered 500 stickers that say ‘this side up’ with an arrow pointing upwards.” As for the shampoo, it was “literally covered in them.”

It did not end with the shampoo

The OP admitted they labeled “the relish, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.” The children were “embarrassed” after their friends noticed all the labels, and they had to explain what had happened.

The poster wondered if they had gone too far

The OP shared, “It is $80 a bottle. I said I would take off all the labels if they agreed to pay for my shampoo.” But, the children rejected this idea.

Commentators loved the pettiness

One person wrote, “I snort-laughed. Thank you.” Another chimed in, “God, I wish you were my mum. Thanks for the laughs.”

Most everyone agreed that the OP was not wrong

A Reddit poster said, “I applaud the ingenuity and dedication.” Many shared that the OP’s description of AXE was hilarious, as someone wrote, “I also chuckled at ‘I don’t touch it because I have zero desire to smell like a high school locker room.’ OP’s Axe roasts are great!”

People thought the parenting skills were on point

Someone shared, “This is an epic parenting move.” Another added, “Harmless embarrassment like this is sometimes the only solution.”

Some even thought the OP was a saint

As one wrote, “The fact that you share a bathroom with adult children and the only complaint you have is them wasting your expensive medicated shampoo makes you a saint.” Others also praised the poster, “You’re a freaking genius.”

Perfect level of pettiness?

Many pointed out that the poster was hilarious, witty, and petty. Do you agree with this summary by a Reddit user: “This is a great example of justified pettiness, and I am all for it?”
