Former President Donald Trump is not granted total immunity in civil cases regarding the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, DOJ confirmed today.
Trump expected immunity since he was still president at that time and enjoyed numerous privileges. But, government lawyers said in a new court filing:
“…The traditional function is one of public communication. It does not include incitement of imminent private violence.”
“In the United States’ view, such incitement of imminent private violence would not be within the outer perimeter of the Office of the President of the United States.”
Things are looking good for the former president, as even his Vice President does not want to vote for him. Mike Pence talked to Caitlin Huey-Burns, saying, “I think we’ll have better choices, and I really trust Republican voters to sort it out.”
He added, “I think different times call for different leadership.”
The Washinton Post noted that the police forces could sue Trump over the events on January 6. This led Marjorie Taylor Greene to tweet that “Nancy Pelosi, who was Speaker of the House at the time, is the one who was responsible for security at the Capital.”
BREAKING: DOJ has just filed a brief rejecting Trump’s claim (in a civil case) that he is absolutely immune from legal accountability because his attempted coup

Greene added, “Trump signed ahead of J6 for thousands of National Guard troops to be placed at the Capital when he was briefed with the same intelligence reports as Pelosi was. So blame can’t be placed on Pres Trump because he tried to make sure the Capital was safe.”
One of the top responses said, “Well… I came in to rob the bank, and the security guard didn’t stop me, so it’s his fault the bank got robbed. -Marjorie Taylor Greene (probably).”
The Justice Department’s response to the immunity question does not guarantee that Trump will lose. However, it’s a substantial setback to his case. Lawyers for Trump and for the plaintiffs have until March 16 to file a response.
The House Ethics Committee announced they opened an investigation into George Santos regarding his background and questions about his campaign finances.

This is all happening while the tensions regarding the 2024 elections among Republicans are reaching new heights. While some, like Marjorie Taylor Greene, strongly support Trump, others, like Pence, are ready for someone new, most likely, Ron DeSantis, who is now in charge of Disney in Florida.
Trump already accused DeSantis of “trying to hide his past” while calling him Rino.
What do you think about this turn of events?
That’s interesting because Nancy Pelosi, who was Speaker of the House at the time, is the one who was responsible for security at the Capital, so it seems they should sue her if they sue anyone.
