A person shared that their coworker killed herself over a narcissistic boss. An email was sent to the company, so this person wanted to know if they should expose them.
The troubling post

A person shared on Reddit’s antiwork how their boss “has been nothing but a narcissist who bullied everyone.” This led to a colleague ending her life.
The coworker sent an email

It further said the coworker who ended her life “sent the organization an email.” The original poster (OP) added, “This was her first job, so I feel bad for her.”
The email has not been made public

The OP shared how their boss’s manager will fire them soon but “refuses to let us inform anyone outside of work aside from the victim’s family.” They concluded by asking, “Should I leak the email?”
Many commentators were all for it

One of the highest-rated comments read, “Leak it. But be sure it can’t be directly traced back to you. Your safety is important.” Another offered a different approach, “Take a pic of your screen on your phone and mark out personal, identifying info. That’s the only way to keep it anonymous.”
Going against the top management

Someone wrote, “My experience tells me if corporate secretly wants you to not do something, that usually means you should do it.” Another also gave something to think about, “Find a local journalist and leak it to the local media.”
A cover-up

Many agreed that this was a cover-up, with a person saying, “They’re trying to cover this up? What else have they hidden?” This poster agreed, “Spread this like butter. Give receipts to your local news station, this person shouldn’t be able to have a career, and your company should be held accountable for abetting this level of toxicity.”
Many Reddit posters thought of the family

One wrote, “This needs to go to the family first. Let them decide how best to use the information.” Another echoed this by saying, “Her family needs to see that because they might have a case against your company.”
Some saw the other side of the story

Some Reddit posters claimed that the victim was mentally ill already, as one person shared, “Not defending your boss, but your coworker was mentally ill. People who are not, do not kill themselves.” Another gave a similar response, “The victim saying that “the narcissist made me kill myself” is just as delusional as the narcissist saying “the victim made me act out violently.” The truth is that both of these people need help, however, society isn’t set up to help these people.”
Others mentioned depression as well

Someone added, “To say she killed herself solely because of him is unbecoming and devalues what she was dealing with and going through.” Another echoed this statement, “Quite an oversimplification of why anyone would get to the point of taking their own life. It’s never over just one thing.”
Narcissistic bosses can cause chronic stress

A person with NPD or narcissistic traits lacks empathy and can be verbally abusive, never accepting that they might be wrong. Narcissistic bosses do not want to share power, so people must find tools to deal with them or quit for their own sake.
Dealing with a narcissistic boss

You must remind yourself of your qualities and always keep an eye on the prize without being emotionally invested in how your boss treats you. Setting boundaries while feeding their ego with flattery and fake smiles might be exhausting, so it is up to you to see if your job is worth all that.
Leaving a narcissistic workplace might leave you with PTSD

If you feel overwhelmed and believe your mental health is declining, quitting your job might be the best option. But you might still feel unwell because narcissists often leave people with post-traumatic stress disorder. This is when you should talk to a specialist.
