Jane Fonda said white men are to blame for the climate crisis and called for them to all be ARRESTED and jailed

Jane Fonda spoke during the Cannes Film Festival and alleged there “would be no climate crisis if there was no racism” before calling for white men to be arrested for climate change.

Fonda told the audience at Cannes, “We’ve got about seven, eight years to cut ourselves in half of what we use of fossil fuels, and unfortunately, the people that have the least responsibility for it are hit the hardest — Global South, people on islands, poor people of color. It is a tragedy that we have to absolutely stop. We have to arrest and jail those men — they’re all men [behind this].”

The actress and activist had more to add

Fonda continued, “It’s good for us all to realize there would be no climate crisis if there was no racism. There would be no climate crisis if there was no patriarchy. A mindset that sees things in a hierarchical way. White men are the things that matter, and then everything else [is] at the bottom.”

During her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Academy Awards and BAFTA winner said alleged billionaires are sending pollution to communities that can’t speak up. She told Rita Moreno, “They’re not gonna put it in Bel Air. They’ve got to find someplace where poor people or indigenous people or people of color are living.'”

She connected all burning issues

The actress said, “You can take anything — sexism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, whatever, the war.” She then articulated, “If you really get into it, and study it and learn about it and the history of it, everything’s connected. There’d be no climate crisis if it wasn’t for racism.”

She told the crowds in Cannes, “It’s important because we have to get out of the silos — feminists over here, environmentalists over here. That’s what I learned when I started being an activist around the Vietnam War. The more you go down any issue, the more you realize that it’s all connected. And if we solve the climate crisis and haven’t solved those other things, we’re gonna be in trouble.”

The arrest in 2019

During a protest, Fonda and “Grace and Frankie” co-star Sam Waterston were arrested outside the U.S. Capitol building in Washington in October 2019. She told the reporters, “We’re trying to raise the visibility of this crisis.” That was her second arrest in D.C. in 2019.

The celebrated T.V. and big-screen icon was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and is known for opposing U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Much later, she alleged she was under government surveillance during the Vietnam War protests.

The Los Angeles Times wrote that Fonda moved from Hollywood to D.C. “to get arrested.” When reporters asked about the move, she said it was “because it brings people like you here.”

The actress told the reporters, “There’s a lot going on in the world, as you very well know, and we want to break through and make sure that climate and the catastrophe that’s looming remains as much front and center as we can make it.”
