Jones and Trump – The love story
Jones was a massive part of MAGA in 2016. The conspiracy theorist and Infowars host compared Trump to George Washington and said 90% of his listeners endorsed his candidacy.
Things went south
Jones even claimed that Trump called him to thank him after the win. However, things went south.
The leaked conversation
Two years ago, an interview from 2019 leaked, where Jones said, “I wish I would never have fu…ing met Trump … I’m so sick of Donald Trump, man. God, I’m sick of him.”
But things only escalated when Trump suggested people should get vaccinated later in 2021.
Sandy Hook school shooting
The gun-loving Jones was ordered to pay almost $1.5 billion for falsely claiming a 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax.
According to a New York Times breakdown of Jones’s financial and legal documents, Jones transferred millions of dollars outside the reach of creditors to avoid paying lawsuits from Sandy Hook families and court sanctions piled up against him over the past years.
Jones on Trump now
After the Waco rally, Jones said, “Whether Trump is for real or not, the deep state hates his guts.” Jones noted that “they” see him as the most significant rival.
He likes it
He continued by saying that Trump is aware of what is happening, adding he likes everything he heard from Trump.
Trump is born again, says Jones
Jones then shared that Trump was “amazing,” adding, “More hardcore stuff said at that rally than had been said in the last 6-7 years of Trump combined.” Trump is “born-again,” added Jones, and then shared, “I think they’ll probably try and assassinate him. This is just unbelievable.”
Jones’ conclusion
He concluded, “If it looks like he’s about to win again, I think they’re gonna shoot him. I think they’re gonna blow his airplane up.”
Jones did not support Trump’s call to action
When Trump asked his followers to protest, Jones pushed back, claiming that would not be a wise move, Newsweek recalled. He questioned why people would protest after January 6 and said, “I think in this … volatile situation we’re in, we don’t need to be like Antifa.”
