Georgia defendants might turn on Trump: “He doesn’t care about anyone but himself”

The defendants in the Georgia case are pointing fingers at each other, Politico reported, and Trump’s ex-lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, might know the reason why.

While talking about the Georgia election racketeering case and 18 co-defendants involved, Michel Cohen stated, “History has shown the 18 co-defendants that Donald doesn’t care about anyone but himself.”

Cohen, who was close to Trump, but their relationship went south years ago, added, “I suspect it will be every defendant for himself.”

Three already said they acted on Trump’s behalf

Shawn Still, Cathleen Latham, and David Shafer, Georgia Republicans, and three false electors already pointed fingers at Trump. Still’s lawyer said, “Mr. Still, as a presidential elector, was also acting at the direction of the incumbent president of the United States.”

The court filing, as reported by Politico, further said, “The president’s attorneys instructed Mr. Still and the other contingent electors that they had to meet and cast their ballots on December 14, 2020.”

More people are reportedly willing to cooperate

Recent court filings indicate that many, including White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Mar-a-Lago employee Yuscil Taveras, are allegedly considering cooperating with prosecutors.

The Florida lawyer Scott Weinberg who represented an Oath Keepers member in the January 6 case, said, “Strategically speaking, if you are one of the lesser important players, you would definitely want to be in the same trial with Donald Trump. All of the focus is going to be on him.” Weinberg added, “They don’t want the little guys, they want Trump. You’re always compared to who you’re next to.”

Meadows’ hearing

During his hearing, Mark Meadows testified, “What I didn’t want to happen was for the campaign to prevail in court action and not have this.” He added, “Because I knew I’d be yelled at by the president of the United States.”

His lawyer made an interesting observation

Meadows’ lawyer, Michael Francisco, coyly said, while cross-examining (Georgia Secretary of State) Brad Raffensperger, “There’s a lot of statements by Mr. Trump. Mr. Meadows’ speaking roles were quite limited.”

Meadows arranged the so-called “perfect call,” where Trump asked Raffensperger to find him votes. However, after prosecutors played a recording of the call in court, “an attorney for Meadows emphasized that his client’s part in the actual discussion was both more minor and less provocative than Trump’s.”

Powell’s role is being downplayed

Lawyer for Sidney Powell stated, “Contrary to widely publicized false statements in the media, Sidney Powell did not represent President Trump or the Trump campaign. She had no engagement agreement with either.”

No involvement

The attorney for Powell argued she should get a separate trial, adding, “She was not involved and about the vast number of events she had no knowledge of or connection with would deny her Due Process.”

Criminal lawyer’s comments

Criminal defense attorney William Shipley stated, “Eventually, Trump is going to assert broad presidential immunity, and everyone else is going to ride under his authority.”
