Greene gives a “hard no” on Ukraine after McCarthy backtracks, claiming he wants to keep the $300 million aid

Marjorie Taylor Greene gave a “hard no” on two bills regarding Ukraine after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he wanted to keep $300 million in aid.

The House Speaker said, “It would be out and voted on by itself.” However, the following day, McCarthy said stripping Ukraine aid out of the State Department and foreign operations measures “becomes more difficult to do,” leading him to decide to keep the money for Kyiv in both measures.

Greene was furious

The Georgia lawmaker shared on X, “The rule is the first step of advancing this blood money in Congress.” She continued, “Unfortunately, it looks like some of the House’s strongest conservatives are going to vote for the rule to help along..the ‘process.'”

The far-right lawmaker added, “Voting yes on the rule means more money for Ukraine. It’s that simple. No one who wants peace should vote yes on the rule to advance the bills. That’s why I’m a HARD NO on the rules package and a blank check for Ukraine!”

The Georgia firebrand continued, “For weeks, I’ve been asking for Ukraine funding to be a standalone vote, not cash hidden inside of other bills. For a moment, it seemed like that would happen. But it didn’t.”

The Hill reported that the Pentagon bill consists of $300 million to “provide assistance, including training; equipment; lethal assistance; logistics support, supplies, and services; salaries and stipends; sustainment; and intelligence support to the military and national security forces of Ukraine, and to other forces or groups recognized by and under the authority of the Government of Ukraine, including governmental entities within Ukraine, engaged in resisting Russian aggression against Ukraine, for replacement of any weapons or articles provided to the Government of Ukraine from the inventory of the United States.”

“Ukraine is not the 51st state,” the Georgia lawmaker said during an interview in April. However, this is nothing compared to her other controversial statements.

Where is Ukraine?

Greene said, “I’ve never seen Putin actually show in any detail his plans to invade Europe. No one has shown me that.” People were baffled by the Georgia Republican’s lack of basic geography knowledge.

So many questions

One person wondered on X, “Wait, why does MTG think that Putin has to share his plans with her or with anyone else? That’s not how any of this works.” Another added, “She actually thinks that Putin would share his plans for invading Europe with her?”

McCarthy knew

The House Speaker told the reporters he knew Greene would vote “no.” He explained, “I think she’ll vote no on the rule if it’s in there. That’s why I was trying to solve it where everybody could be there,” he added. “But this one, it didn’t work out.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell want to avoid a government shutdown at week’s end. But the clock is ticking, and it appears that Trump will win – he already called MAGA Republicans to shut down the government.
